Marcela Correa has been working with asset-based finance and aviation law for 20 years. She specializes in aircraft finance and has been assisting banks, export credit agencies, lessors and air companies on a wide range of financing transactions concerning executive jets, helicopters used for transportation services for the offshore oil and gas industry and Boeing, ATR, Embraer and Airbus aircraft operated by major Brazilian airlines.
Within her experience with banking law, Marcela has also assisted foreign and Brazilian clients unrelated to aviation, either acting as borrowers or lenders in syndicated loans, cross-border offering of debt and equity securities, project finance, securitization and other financing transactions.
From 2006 to 2007, Marcela Correa was based in Macaé, Rio de Janeiro, as a secondee to a major oil and gas company which operates FPSO units in Brazil.
In 2010 she went on secondment to Norton Rose Fulbright, a renowned law firm in London, and worked as an associate for the asset-based finance team.
In 2016 and 2017 Marcela also acted as a secondee co-leading the Brazilian legal department of a major air service company that operates helicopters.
Marcela has been recognized as a “Leading Aviation Practitioner” by Euromoney (2019-2021), “Next Generation Lawyer” by The Legal 500 (2017) and “Rising Star in Aviation” by Euromoney (2016-2018). She was also awarded prizes by Brazilian client guide “Análise Advocacia” in 2021 and 2022 (the best lawyer in four categories, including in the state of Rio de Janeiro and finance law).
